Dear Edward,
My name is Mary Clare and I am an alcoholic serving on
the Group Services assignment here at your General
Service Office. It is my pleasure to correspond with
anyone who writes with a question regarding G.S.O.'s
A.A. website, www.aa.org <http://www.aa.org/> .
You said that you are starting a website and needed to
know if we have any rules or guidelines about using A.A.
material online, specifically the Big Book. The answer
is a definite yes, we have such policies in place and I
am sure you appreciate that there are also copyright
laws involved.
I would suggest that you go to G.S.O.'s AA website,
www.aa.org <http://www.aa.org/> and consult the
following items:
· Intellectual Property Policy
http://www.aa.org/lang/en/subpage.cfm?page=25
<http://www.aa.org/lang/en/subpage.cfm?page=25>
· The A.A. Service Manual, page S75, Trademarks, Logos
and Copyrights
http://www.aa.org/lang/en/catalog.cfm?origpage=101&product=100
<http://www.aa.org/lang/en/catalog.cfm?origpage=101&product=100>
We ask that you do not reproduce items that are
currently available on the G.S.O. or AA Grapevine Web
sites. Instead, link to the appropriate pages of the
sites: www.aa.org and www.aagrapevine.org.
Your friends here at the General Service Office join me
in sending warm wishes your way.
Yours in fellowship,
Mary Clare Lynch
